Yaguarasaurines were a subfamily of Mosasaurs that retained a number of basal features, and they were not as specially adapted for an ocean-going existence like other types of Mosasaurs. Russellosaurus is one such Yaguarasaurine. Although only some bits of the skull and other bones are known of this genus, it was likely similar to its close relative Yaguarasaurus; with more developed, less paddle-like limbs, though it was much smaller. Russellosaurus probably ate mostly fish and smaller kinds of prey in comparison to its larger cousins. Remains are known from the Late Cretaceous of Texas.
